Description
Smoked Out is a storybook for pupils in Standard 4 and 5 that serves as a cautionary tale against mischief and dishonesty. The plot follows a boy named Gachau, whose life becomes a nightmare after he steals his teacher’s English textbook. His classmate, Njui, tells on him, leading to Gachau being punished, after which he runs away from home and school. With no hope left, Gachau is eventually found and rescued by one of his teachers, Teacher Margaret, who finds him while visiting the home of his employer. Gachau then realizes his mistake and returns with his teacher to the joy of his parents, classmates, and teachers. The story is an educational tool meant to teach young learners about the consequences of wrongdoing.
